Pillars of Society
… is my salute to all working mums and how crazy our lives get! Trying to organize our work and family lives, so everything runs smoothly, on time and without a hitch. I have always felt that we are the worker bees behind the scenes, just getting on and making it happen.
You would think having only one child that I’d be on top of things?
Nah!
At the beginning or the year I stuffed up…
I needed to send out a bulk exhibition invite for an exhibition via email and I didn’t put my database addresses in the Bcc: slot. Not very professional … and there was no way of fixing it as I had hit the send button.
From the get-go this year has been really busy in both my family and work lives - I think I have been on the back foot since 10th Jan (I can even pinpoint the date!). In Feb theπ stress of fitting a week’s worth of work and jobs into two days added to the pressure and something was bound to happen…
My inner voice was saying to me on that Monday afternoon …
Just complete the job, there is no time to think about things, get a move on, you need to send the emails out today to give people three weeks’ notice for your exhibition opening, you can’t leave it until next week people are busy the more notice you give them the better, you can’t do it tomorrow as you are packing for the trip to Orewa, you know you will need the whole day to pack for the family: to organize clothing, shoes, toilet bags, medicines, food etc, then on Wednesday morning you are heading off bright and early driving up to Auckland, you will need to get to bed early on Tuesday night, we don’t want to leave late and get stuck in Auckland’s afternoon motorway traffic, we have to make it to the North Shore by 3.30pm, send the invite emails now, has the courier picked up the parcel going to Napier?, you also need to email Ponsonby about the ETA of Mrs G, remember Torie has a 5pm swim lesson today and you still haven’t prepped or made tonight’s tea or made the chocolate chip biscuits to take away with us on the trip, SEND the emails.
My sincere apologies to the people on my database – I am sorry.
